Hackers Are People Too — Amanda Berlin (Circle City Con 2014 Videos) (Hacking Illustrated Series InfoSec Tutorial Videos)

Hackers Are People Too — Amanda Berlin
Circle City Con 2014
http://circlecitycon.com

Abstract: The world and popular culture mostly see hackers as criminals. We should all make it our mission to not only educate each other when it comes to technology and practices, but also education the population on what we do and why we do it. Let’s spread the word on all of the amazing things that our community does and has to offer to shine a better light on the word "hacker". I go through the responses of my local community and circles of family and friends as well as what I’ve learned in the process. Hopefully the word spreads and it empowers us to secure all the things and teach all the people!!!

Author Bio: Amanda Berlin is currently a Network Analyst at a Regional Medical Center in Northern Ohio. She has recently changed focus to more information security related topics. She manages the internal phishing campaign at her company to promote user education about phishing and hacking through an awards based reporting program. She also has other sysadmin and netadmin related responsibilities. She is a member of the North Coast Concert Band, and enjoys running, baking, biking, and most outdoor activities. Amanda lives at home with her three boys and “Rabbit” the cat. First time submitting let alone speaking so be gentle.
