Cyber Espianoge - Attack & Defense
Michael Mimoso

Tech1 - Session #6 - Dennis Fisher Recent years have seen a major new threat added to the landscape for many enterprises: cyber espionage. Large, successful and well-defended corporations such as Lockheed Martin, RSA, Google, Microsoft, Apple and many others have become targets for attackers from foreign countries who are looking for valuable intellectual property. Product plans, strategy documents and financial records are some of the targets, but there are many others. And it's not just the big enterprises that are being targeted; smaller and medium-sized businesses often are compromised as well by attackers looking for soft spots in a supply chain or partner network. This talk will discuss some recent cyber espionage attacks, techniques, consequences and what targeted corporations can do to defend themselves against sophisticated adversaries.

Bio: Michael brings more than a decade of IT security news reporting to Threatpost. As an editor of Threatpost, he covers critical security issues, research, and cyber crime affecting businesses and end-users today. In addition, Information Security was a two-time finalist for national magazine of the year. Earlier in his career, Michael was an editor and reporter at several Boston-area newspapers. He holds a bachelor's degree from Stonehill College in North Easton, Mass.
