Micro-segmentation: What is it, how does it work, and why is it important in today's security-challenged connected community. In today's complex networked world, where the edge of the enterprise is in the hands of the mobile user and ever-changing, threats are both known and unknown, as well as inside and out. The use of micro-segmentation, particularly focused on resource-saving software-defined deployments, presents an extremely dynamic, scalable, and versatile tool in the hands of the security community.

Jack Koons currently serves as Industry Director for Unisys Global Security Solutions, and is a retired 25-year career full-spectrum Cyberspace Operations / Cyber Warfare Officer whose globally-spanning operational assignments include service within the Intelligence, Special Operations, and Cyber communities. Jack is an accomplished author and lecturer on the topic of cyber warfare and security. A founding member of the emergent Department of Defense cyberspace effort, Jack is a Unisys Global Security Solutions customer advocate - currently working with both private and public sector information technology communities to further develop, refine, and operationalize requirements and capabilities across the information technology spectrum.
