Billy Hoffman: Inside the Hacker’s Studio Interviews Dave
Marcus: Director and Chief Architect of Threat Research and Intelligence for
McAfee®'s Federal Advanced Programs Group The discussion probably started over a few bottles of Dave's
homemade beer, or maybe in a gym... no, wait. Dave doesn't go to the gym to
talk. However it started, the idea came about... How about having a "Inside the
Actor's Studio" style interview, but with notable hackers in our community.
Knowing Billy has an awesome stage presence, and that Dave Marcus had done a
large amount of work in and for the hacking community, the two of them together
talking on stage HAS to be interesting, if not just downright entertaining. We bring you the another installment of "Inside the Hacker's
Studio"! Billy Hoffman is the founder and CEO of Zoompf. Prior to
Zoompf, Billy worked as a security researcher for SPI Dynamics, a web security
scanner vendor. Following it's acquisition by Hewlett Packard in 2007, Billy
managed HP's Web Security Research Group. He has spoken at web performance and
security conferences around the world, published the book Ajax Security with
Addison Wesley, and is currently writing a book on web performance for No Starch
press. Dave Marcus currently serves as Director and Chief Architect
of Threat Research and Intelligence for McAfee®'s Federal Advanced Programs
Group. His focus includes advanced research and threat intelligence projects
such as Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) analysis, advanced malware
identification and classification, hardware-assisted security architecture
design and SCADA/ICS research. In his spare time he rides his Harley, is an avid
powerlifter,
metalhead
and family man. He also enjoys practicing the art of lockpicking and is a hacker
of things.
