An overview of complex litigation, and a discussion on what really underlies the cases you hear in the news blurbs. How does a case take decades to sort its way through the legal system? Why are cases filed with so much paperwork? And how does someone get $2.7 million dollars for a coffee spill?

Tyler Pitchford, Esq. holds degrees in Software Architecture from New College of Florida and a Juris Doctor from the Stetson University College of Law. He co-founded the Azureus Bittorrent client in 2003, and currently works as an appellate attorney in the state of Florida focusing on mass-tort trial support and appeals. His prior work experience includes the Florida State Attorney’s office, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the Florida Supreme Court. Additionally, Tyler has previously given presentations on various computer security and the legal topics at PhreakNIC, Defcon, Outerz0ne, ToorCamp, Shmoocon, and the AirForce in attition to teaching several courses on computer programming and security throughout the years.
