Don't Panic! A Beginner's Guide To Hardware Hacking - Phoenix Snoke NolaCon 2019 (Hacking Illustrated Series InfoSec <br>Tutorial Videos)

Don't Panic! A Beginner's Guide To Hardware Hacking
Phoenix Snoke

With more and more connected devices hardware hacking opportunities become more prevalent. Yet some people find getting into hardware hacking to be daunting. This talk will answer 42 important questions like the following. Which tools do I really need? What should I do first? What if I break something? Which end of soldering iron am I supposed to touch? This talk also gives you various priced options for getting started. There will be video demos, because live hardware hacking demos are hard for everyone in the audience to see and may be either too exciting (fires) or not exciting enough (tracing a loose wire for 10 minutes). Hope to see you there to discuss tools, the hardware, and everything.

Phoenix Snoke is frustrated IoT inventor. His great devices like The Bathroom Buddy with Facebook integration, Nighttime Clown Friend with soothing red eyes that help you drift to sleep, and BLDE ("it's like Uber for guilitines") haven't taken off. So he's focusing instead on beekeeping, raising toddlers, hardware hacking, and other poor life choices. He's spoken at various conferences like Bsides, SkyDogCon, Nolacon and Derbycon. He also passed the Turing Test on the third try.
