Deep learning and AI are in the news because of recent breakthroughs that have produce predictions of superhuman accuracy on some problem sets, notably image recognition. These same algorithms have wide applications for business, bringing improved accuracy to old hard problems like fraud detection, preventive maintenance and cybersecurity. This talk will go look at recent advances in the field, how large organizations are implementing AI now, and some possibilities for the near future.

Chris is the CEO and co-founder of Skymind, an open-source artificial intelligence company backed by Y Combinator, Tencent and SV Angel. Skymind is Red Hat for AI, building machine-learning solutions for the Fortune 2000, including Softbank, France Telecom, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Chris worked as a journalist for over a decade, covering business and tech for The New York Times and Bloomberg News. Since 2014, Chris has grown Skymind to make it the leading open-source AI company. Skymind helps companies build everything from fraud detection to healthcare solutions to smart robots. He attended Deep Springs College, holds a degree in economics, and lives in the Bay Area.
