Thinking Outside the Bunker: Security as a practice, not a target - Steven Legg Bsides Cleveland 2014 (Hacking Illustrated Series InfoSec Tutorial Videos)

Thinking Outside the Bunker: Security as a practice, not a target
Steven Legg

Abstract: Very often people think of security as a target - a static check box that needs to be achieved once and is only validated through auditing and compliance. Amidst gunfire and dead zerglings, we will utilize a framework to plot the (recurring) course of action and learn to stay on top of our security in practice. Don't worry, there will be no shortage of marine-filled examples and creative liberties used to examine what this concept means to you, your team, and your business.

Steven Legg, is currently a Senior Network Communication, Security Specialist at a midwest capital management firm where he is primarily responsible for the implementation and testing of security controls based on both the SANS 20 critical security controls, and internal red/blue team exercises. He has been in the operations and security space for over 13 years as a consultant in small, medium, and enterprise business. Steven supports and contributes to #misec, and many Security B-Sides events in addition to providing leadership and management coaching to individuals in the InfoSec and Information Technology fields.
