My Trudge Through IT Burnout & Keeping it at Bay - Eric Lee BSidesSTL 2019 (Hacking Illustrated Series InfoSec Tutorial Videos)

My Trudge Through IT Burnout & Keeping it at Bay
Eric Lee

BSidesSTL 2019

In my 25 years in IT, I've lived through IT Burnout a couple times as well as seen it happen in numerous peers. The physical and social effects of IT burnout on my family and others range from job loss, to breakups, and even suicide. The IT community needs to support each other not only in technical education but also social issues that may effect us as well. This session is about MY experiences and how I've worked to reduce the affects of it. Come learn how I finally recognized what was happening to me, what I needed to change in order to alleviate it, and what I currently do to keep it from affecting me.

Eric Lee is a Lead Architect with a focus in Virtualization & Cloud at Cerner in Kansas City. His role supports development, remote hosting and supporting applications of EMR systems for numerous hospitals and clinics throughout the United States. Over the past 25 years Eric has been in charge of infrastructure systems that span the globe all the way down to fully automated systems for continuous improvement development processes.
