Applying Big Data technology to security use case

Max Pevzner

BSides Boston 2015

The big data technology suite can only be effective when applied correctly. It solves certain problems well, provided the design assumptions are true. This presentation will explain which problems in the Security domain are the kind that Hadoop and big data technologies were designed to solve, and what conditions need to be met for Hadoop to be an effective solution. It will explain in what circumstances Hadoop is not an effective solution and why, and suggest alternatives.

Bio: Over the years I have worked for Wells Fargo, Ebay, Netflix, Facebook and RSA Security.
