Vectors and Victims: Analyzing vulnerabilities through disease models - Rich Cassara Converge 2017 (Hacking Illustrated Series InfoSec Tutorial Videos)

Vectors and Victims: Analyzing vulnerabilities through disease models
Rich Cassara
@rjcassara

The study of disease patterns, epidemiology, can be a useful way to think about information security. The different methods that diseases use to spread through human populations can often mirror exploits and vulnerabilities in technology. In this presentation, I will perform comparative analysis of diseases and security issues to identify similarities and effective countermeasures. This talk aims to be informative and educational to all experience levels in security and the lessons learned can be applied to more clearly communicate security concepts to less technical individuals.

I suffer from impostor syndrome as a: DevOps engineer, Systems Admin, Network Admin, Developer, Security engineer, and/or Information Security Analyst. I feel pretty confident in my abilities to be a good father and halfway decent human being.
