Malware Development as the Evolution of Parasites - Adam Hogan BSides Columbus Ohio 2015  (Hacking Illustrated Series InfoSec Tutorial Videos)

Malware Development as the Evolution of Parasites
Adam Hogan
BSides Columbus Ohio 2015

I will discuss how the evolution of parasites maps to the growth and development of malware. From the theoretical ground already explored in biology we can explain many of the trends in malware development and make predictions on how malware will evolve in the future.

Adam Hogan is a Security Engineer with the Advanced Threat Solutions team at Cisco, who acquired him from Sourcefire. Adam has been working with Snort and Intrusion Prevention Systems since 2012, and is just obsessive enough to still enjoy it. His latest research is in malware analysis over time and trying to use statistical models when ever possible to help justify what he spent on grad school. He enjoys slow cooked BBQ, fine Irish whiskey, and gummy worms.
